Lesson Preparation
The Road Map to Success
To execute a lesson that was both informative and effective, I planned out a learning objective, specific learning activities to assess students' understanding of the lesson, and created a PowerPoint presentation. Being a SUNY Cortland student myself, I've been where my students are. Therefore, I wanted to include a lesson that was missing from my own COR 101 experience. My college etiquette presentation includes the expectations of students, how to work in group settings, how to communicate with professors, how to professionally email professors, and what students should and should not do during an online class via Zoom, Webex, etc. In addition, I required my students to complete a writing assignment answering the following questions: What is professionalism? How can professionalism benefit you inside and outside the classroom? Why does your professional reputation begin with professionalism? To further assess my students understanding of the lesson I have also created a short quiz which highlighted the key points of the presentation. |

The quiz included five questions, four of which were graded on a two point scale and the final question asked students if they thought the college etiquette presentation was useful. After analyzing the results, it is evident that the information resonated with the students and they have all received 100% on the quiz. In addition, all students claimed that the presentation was useful to them.
